A press conference was held at BBP organised by the group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) in Malaysia, consisting of 10 Embassies in Malaysia to promote the 8TH Latin American Festival which will be held on 22 May 2016 also at BB Park, Jalan Bukit Bintang from 11 am to 7 pm.
In collaboration with the Plaza Low Yat, the Latin Ladies Association of Malaysia and supported by Dewan Bandar raya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), the Latin American Festival is held every year to strengthen the relationship between Malaysia and the Latin American region.
Visitors will be able to experience the rich, diversified and passionate culture of Latin American and the Caribbean with the Embassies of Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela showcasing their culture, food and beverages and promote original handicrafts and tourism information. Highlight of the day includes cultural performances with their multi-coloured costumes and Latin American flavours. There will be lucky draw with attractive prizes such as flight ticket to Amsterdam, tablets, smartphones and others.
All the proceeds from the festival will go to charities; This year’s chosen charity organization is Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya, KIRTARSH, known as Kirtarsh Home, a non-profitable home established to shelter and care for special and underprivileged children.
In the spirit of the upcoming Olympic Games to be held in Brazil this Summer 2016, the Olympic Council of Malaysia will be part of the festival with an exhibition of Malaysian participation in the biggest sports event of the planet.
