HANOI, May 24 (Bernama) -- Construction of the Mekong Delta wind power plant in Bac Lieu city is expected to be completed by 2015, Vietnam news agency reported.
The plant - with a capacity of 500MW - will be built in Vinh Trach Dong commune and will have centres in Tra Vinh province's Duyen Hai district and Vinh Chau district in Soc Trang province.
The plant is expected to provide sufficient electricity supply for the Mekong Delta, promote investment in industrial projects and reduce the impact of climate change.
Last October, the Vietnam Development Bank (VDB) signed an agreement with the Export-Import Bank of the United States (US Eximbank) where a US$1 billion loan would be used to fund the project.
