CAIRO, May 15 (Bernama) -- Regional office of World Health Organization (WHO) in Cairo declared on Wednesday that Yemen is officially free from Polio, Yemen news agency (Saba) reported.
WHO said that the declaration came after the WHO's Regional Certification Committee studying the documents presented by Certification Committee of Yemen and accepted their contents. That is followed by declaring Yemen is free from polio.
Minister of Public Health and Population Abdul Karim Rase'a revealed to Saba that this great accomplishment came as a result of a lot of efforts exerted by Yemen in the previous years through launching more than nine anti-polio immunization campaigns.
He also hailed positive role played by various media outlets on their support for the government efforts in this regard.
