URALSK, Kazakhstan, July 29 (Bernama) -- The hot weather that affected the central regions of Russia has reached the city of Uralsk, Kazakhstan's news agency (Khabar) reported Thursday.
Khabar said two days ago specialists registered a temperature of over 51 degrees centigrade in the city which is unusually hot for this area.
Those suffering from high blood pressure and cardio-vascular diseases are especially affected by the hot weather.
The regional cardiological centre has no free beds left so doctors have to accommodate sick people in the corridors. The ambulance service of the West Kazakhstan region is now operating more than ever before with patients delivered to hospitals non-stop.
Cardiologist Bibizhan Sarsekenova, said: "There is a difficult situation with these patients. The cardiological centre has only 120 beds and 20 beds are in the surgical department. Up to 30 patients are now being accommodated in corridors. We are unable to provide these people with first aid and send them back home because high blood pressure is accompanied with nasal bleeding which is why we cannot just provide them with 30-minute aid."
Weather forecaster Tatyana Schilling said that in the next two weeks, "our region will remain under the influence of a high and powerful anticyclone. It will bring clear skies accompanied by hot weather. The night temperature will be between 22 and 27 degrees centigrade while day temperatures will be between 34 and 39 degrees centigrade. In some areas of the region, the temperature may rise to 43 degrees. Over the past two months, the city of Uralsk saw a maximum of 40 degrees centigrade.
